“Antifungal Susceptibility Pattern of Oropharyngeal Candidiasis in Cancer Patients”
نویسندگان
چکیده
Introduction: Fungal infections like oral candidiasis is prevalent in cancer patients as their immune systems were compromised.Material and Methods: 377 who clinically diagnosed with oropharyngeal included the study. Isolation identification of Candida species was based on standard microbiological procedures. CLSI (2021) recommendations followed when determining antifungal susceptibility. Results: Among total cases included, highest number instances reported those aged 41 to 50 years (30.23%). albicans (21.98%) most frequent by tropicalis (18.84%), prapsilosis (17.80%). Monomicrobial growth observed 77.63% whereas polymicrobial 22.36% patients. (24.59%) (20.49%) isolates among underwent chemotherapy while (40%) Parapsilosis (26.66%) undergoing radiotherapy. Miconazole found be more susceptible than Fluconazole, Itraconazole, Clotriconazole antifungals. Conclusion: Due risk a systemic infection, it important recognise soon possible for clinical management seriously unwell It may also aid clinician selecting antifungals empirical treatment.

Isolation, characterization and antifungal susceptibility pattern of Candida species causing oropharyngeal candidiasis in HIV positive patients.
A total of 100 HIV sero-positive patients with oral lesion/lesions suggestive of oropharyngeal candidiasis were studied. Candida species were isolated from 61 patients. Out of 61 isolates, 43 (70.49%) isolates were of Candida albicans and 18 (29.50%) isolates were of non albicans species. Out of 43 isolates, 2 (4.65%) isolates of Candida albicans and out of 18 isolates, 4 (22.2%) isolates of no...
متن کاملOropharyngeal candidiasis and resistance to antifungal drugs in patients receiving radiation for head and neck cancer
BACKGROUND: Oropharyngeal candidiasis is a common infection in patient receiving radiotherapy for head and neck cancer. Accurate and rapid identification of candida species is very important in clinical laboratory, because the incidence of candidiasis continues to rise after radiotherapy. The genus Candida has about 154 species that show different level of resistance to antifungal drugs and hav...

Background. In Ethiopia, little is known regarding the distribution and the in vitro antifungal susceptibility profile of yeasts. Objective. This study was undertaken to determine the spectrum and the in vitro antifungal susceptibility pattern of yeasts isolated from HIV infected patients with OPC. Method. Oral pharyngeal swabs taken from oral lesions of study subjects were inoculated onto Sabo...
متن کاملMolecular Identification and Antifungal Susceptibility Pattern of Non-albicans Candida Species Isolated from Vulvovaginal Candidiasis
Background: Vulvovaginal candidiasis (VVC) is an important health problem caused by Candida spp. The aim of this study was molecular identification, phylogenetic analysis, and evaluation of antifungal susceptibility of non-albicans Candida isolates from VVC. Methods: Vaginal secretion samples were collected from 550 vaginitis patients at Sayyad Shirazi Medical and Educational Center of Gorgan (...
متن کاملA study on speciation and antifungal susceptibility pattern of Candida isolates from HIV patients with oropharyngeal candidiasis and correlation with CD4 count
Background Oral candidiasis is a clinical predictor for progression to AIDS. Antifungal drug resistance is becoming a major problem with this immunedepleted population. Considering the above facts, the study was conducted to speciate and to determine the susceptibility pattern of the Candida isolates from HIV patients with oral candidiasis and to correlate it with the CD4 count of the patients.
